Factors to be considered before designing a buffalo shed:

It is better to construct loose house only with upper roof left behind
Roof can be of tin, bamboo, cement sheet, brick or any kind of suitable material
Floor can be paved or semi paved
Half wall should be provided and other half left blank
Should have adequate ventilation facilities
House should be located at noise free place
It is better to have tree like arrangement near the shed
Bathing at least twice a day should be ensured incase of intensive management
There should be adequate supply of clean water in the house
The floor of the room should be kept uneven. If it is not possible, the brick should be laid on the floor
House should have adequate drainage facilities
Sample design of buffalo house and instruction:

Open House:

This type of house should be built considering 100 square feet space for each adult animal and 20 square feet for calf and other young animals.

Close House:

The following instructions should be followed:

Buffalo Bull/Cow shed:

A guideline is given here about the required space per adult cows. House should be extended in right or left side considering the same manner.

Maternity Shed:

his room should be of 120-160 square feet and have adequate light and ventilation facilities.

Calf shed:

This room should be construct to facilitate 5-20 calves simultaneously considering that each calf require 20 square feet space
In case of improved management, calves can be classified into three categories:
Below 6 months (20 sq.ft space for each)
    6-12 months (30 sq.ft space for each)
Above 1 year (50-60 sq.ft space for each)
Separate room can be built for each calf.
However, there should always be enough feed and clean water in calf shed.

Breeding Bull shed:

An adult bull requires 150 square feet space (15 feet long and 10 feet wide)

Isolation shed:

It should be located far away from other animal shed. The measurement of the house will be 120-150 sqare feet.

Quarantine Shed:

After bringing a new animal from outside the shed it should be kept in a separate house for minimum 7 days to test whether it is affected with any disease or not.
This house should be located from far away from other animals shed and near the entrance of the farm.
The house will be 120-150 sq. ft.
