Brooding or heating the chicks from 1-4 weeks of age is the first and foremost things to do for rearing chicks

Things to do before introducing chicks into the farm:
The surroundings (around 5-6 feet) of the farm should be disinfected with proper disinfectant about 10-12 days before bringing chicks. At this time, the old litter should be disposed at minimum 500 meters away from the farm.
After cleaning, sprinkle bleaching powder ins and out of the farm
Formalin mixture should be sprayed inside and outside the farm after 3-4 days after spraying bleaching powder
Bring all the necessary item into house 6 days before introducing chicks after making them clean, disinfected and dry
Saw dust should be spreaded and heated into the brooder day before bringing chicks and make them disinfected by proper disinfectant
Keep open the upper part of the curtain upto 6-12 "
Make disinfectant the hoover, brooder guard/chick guard, thermometer, hygrometer, bucket, mug, heater, drinker, weighing balance, saw dust and all other necessaries

Things to Do at Chick Receiving Day:
Spread the paper over the litter of round chickguard and place it in the middle of the hover chickguard
The height of the chickguard will be 20 to 28 inches; It can be made with hardboard, tin, plastic or anything like that
Brooder temperature should be fixed at 35oC just 6 hours before releasing chicks and arrange glucose mixed water (25gm glucose in 1 litre water) away from hoover 2-3 hours prior to chick arrival
When bringing chicks from distant location, their beak should be wet in glucose water before being released into the brooder and released into the chickguard immediately after their arrival
Depending on the size of the hover, the chickguard should be installed and the wire mesh should be spaced 2-3 feet away from the hover inside the chickguard.
Hover can be of 3-8 feet and chickguards 9-10 feet in diameter
On the first day, 0.2 square feet of space is required for each baby chick. On this calculation, a chickguard of 10 feet diameter can hold up to 400 chicks and a chickguard of 5 feet diameter can hold 100 chicks at a time
After bringing the chicks, you need to spray around 5% formalin once daily around the house
The humidity of the brooding house should be maintained at 55-60% from the first week to fourth week and 60-70% from next weeks to the last week. The device through which humidity is measured is called hygrometer

Sign of Appropriate Brooding:
At the end of first week chick mortality rate will be less than 5%
At the end of the first 7 days, the average body weight of chick will be 4.5 times more that of the first day, i.e 135-145 grams
The weight of all the chicks kept together will be approximately equal
